The entire journey of setting up the COVID-19 helpline and vaccination drive for employees was a rollercoaster yet something that I would cherish all my life. Helping employees I didn’t know and standing by them in a tough time enthralled me to the core. It gave a different sort of satisfaction, both as a human being and an employee. I received numerous messages and calls from Ninjas all around who thanked me for being by their side. That has been my biggest takeaway.

The journey to Ninjacart
I joined Ninjacart in December 2020 after serving as a Training Coach for the Quality and Training team in a leading cab service company since 2014. I came from a company where everything was in place and very streamlined. But, in Ninjacart, I was open to a new world of learning and, most importantly, there was the opportunity of setting up a Quality and Training team by applying what I learned in my previous organization. This enthralled me because I was earnestly looking forward to it. That’s how my journey with Ninjacart began.
Covid times—The Real Test
The joy of getting back to the office had just settled when the second wave of COVID-19 hit us again. People were suffering, and we wanted to do something about it. Karthiyayini and Nandu, my managers back then, and I had the experience of handling critical situations. That’s when the idea of the COVID-19 helpline came to our minds. But the main question that popped in was, ‘Who will handle these calls?’
These were sensitive cases, and we didn’t want these to be redirected to just any vendor. We wanted to help our Ninjas in any possible way and create a platform where we could support one another. So, all of us worked together and managed the helpline end-to-end along with our normal responsibilities. Throughout the period, we didn’t have any abandoned calls or missed out on any calls. We gave our best efforts and handled many critical cases like arranging beds, oxygen cylinders, medicines, kits, etc. We used our personal contacts also to help our Ninjas. As a part of the Ninjacart family, our main aim was to ensure the best help for our employees.
With all of this happening, we achieved another big milestone. We organized the COVID-19 vaccination drive for all our Ninjas. It was a significant task considering the number of slots available, informing people about the drive, the location, etc. I remember sitting with Nandu even till 5:00 AM, making calls and finding out ways to pull things off. Along with Bangalore we also conducted these vaccination drives in various other cities like Mumbai, Chennai etc., and coordinating it all from Bangalore was a Herculean task in itself. The entire journey was a complete rollercoaster ride, but something I would cherish all my life.
Working at Ninjacart
Ninjacart’s value of Speed has served as a catalyst for me. I have always loved working at Ninjacart and bestowed my efforts in every possible way to help the org scale. It honestly feels great to see the way the organization has grown in the last couple of years. There have been significant changes in the aspects of business and culture.
As Thiru said, “With speed replaced by velocity, I believe that we are all set to become the next big corporate, with all our great plans being implemented at pace with a direction.”
I am proud of my team, which kept working hard on their own in a space where we didn’t have a fixed SOP regarding how to go about with a helpline. We ensured an end-to-end service where we even had an eye on how the patient is doing and whether they have recovered.
The best thing about working at Ninjacart is the freedom you are endowed with. You can walk up to anyone and express interest in moving into a different team if you are curious and possess the right skills. Given that freedom, people are more excited about their work and have no insecurity about anything. I have observed that people here have the confidence to pull off anything and everything. It gives me the push to work harder every single day.
