My mindset about work changed at Ninjacart. Rather than sticking to the KRA, I adopted an Entrepreneurial spirit and worked hard while ensuring that everyone around me felt respected.
I joined Ninjacart in 2021 as City Head-Bhopal. When we moved to the Veggies model from the MDC model, it was a struggle because we had to unlearn everything and start from scratch. The greatest challenge we faced was in convincing the farmers to trade with a start-up like Ninjacart and to accept payments digitally. In the meantime, the second phase of lockdowns started, and that added to our woes.
When dealing with farmers, the most important thing is establishing trust and commitment. That was my first challenge and I’m proud to have achieved that.
Farmers prefer cash transactions. To convince them to accept transactions directly to the bank account was a hurdle we had to overcome. We educated them about the benefits of bank transactions for loan eligibility. The mandis were closed so they were facing issues in transporting their produce. We took care of the transport and made them aware of the safety and ease of doing business with Ninjacart. Initially, it was difficult but once trust was established, the business was smooth. We started from 700 kgs per day but now we do 7000 kgs every day.
No other company allows you the freedom to work in your style. Ninjacart lets me act as an entrepreneur in my own right. I’m grateful to my team who supported me to achieve the things that we have.
I still remember what management told me when I first joined Ninjacart. They told me that Bhopal is your city, this is your business and you are responsible to take it forward. The excitement those lines instilled in me propelled me to work harder with my team. No business school could have taught me the things that I learn from making decisions at Ninjacart. I got promoted to Area Trade Manager from City Head within a year. No other company will let you grow so fast.
