Ninjacart’s key strength is the unity that holds it. More than being just employees, we are a family which always stands by each other. The faith and confidence in people bestow on you are unmatched. Everyone is welcomed by everyone. It’s an open culture. We never make any person feel left out. At the end of the day, what matters is the person and the bonding.
My journey to Ninjacart
After my MBA, I joined an established bank and was a part of the investment banking team. Bagging such an opportunity is a dream for many, but within a couple of months, I realized that it was not something I wanted to do in the long run. I moved to a food delivery start-up, which was one of the first in the business. But unfortunately, the founders had to shut it off due to a cash crunch. Post this, I joined some other start-ups too, but all of them were shut down due to one reason or the other.
I felt frustrated and had no clue on how to move ahead. That’s when I took a break and travelled to some neighbouring countries. I explored a lot and could witness a lot of learning taking place at a greater level for me.
Later, an ex-colleague referred me to Ninjacart. I came down and met multiple people in the organization. Both the parties explored what role I would fit into and finally, I was hired by Ninjacart.
The freedom to explore, fail and learn
My job started with an early morning flight to Pune. I was tasked with establishing the entire Onion procurement process from Maharashtra. At that time, I had no idea how to start. I remember I used to drive KK’s Tamil Nadu registered car in Maharashtra and everybody there came to know that it was a Ninjacart car. People challenged us and said that we won’t be able to do anything, but we went ahead and were able to do it all. Unless you have that kind of commitment level, you can’t pull it off.
As a newcomer to the industry, I was endowed with complete freedom to explore, and understand the market, hire employees, channel the entire procurement process, and so on. I was never questioned in the wrong way or got a blocker about why I was doing something. If I failed, I got back up stronger.
Ninjacart, as an organization, inspires me every single day. People never say ‘no’ here to try anything new. You get the liberty to go and try out various things in the ecosystem. I am grateful for the trust fellow employees here bestowed on me, which raised my morale and kept me pushing even when I felt low. Our culture is so inclusive, that it doesn’t let you feel left out or alone. People are welcomed with open arms and no one is judged for anything.
Driving my performance – The Ninja Way
When I was working for a start-up as a founding member, I didn’t have any guidance that helped me to grow or learn from any mistakes. It was just me doing things on my own without a different perspective from any other side. But at Ninjacart, the case is completely different. You have the access to go to any person, irrespective of the designation they hold. Even if they don’t have a solution, they will tell you where to find it.
Everyone here is ethically driven and has the passion to do something innovative and yield the best solutions. The culture is very encouraging and, as Thiru says, “We aren’t just trying to work, we’re changing the world.” This is something I shall always remember all my life.
