From the very beginning, I have never considered Ninjacart as my workplace but my second home. In life, we often get attached to the places and the people who make it all worth it. That’s what Ninjacart has been for me. I am happy that our culture now has induced great liberty in all the employees.
My journey—The Ninja Way
My journey with Ninjacart started in the year 2018 when a couple of my friends, who were already working here, referred me to this organization. Jumping from a Digital Marketing firm to an Agritech startup was a big decision and, honestly, I would cherish it all my life. From starting as an Associate Recruiter to handling multiple HR projects and then working as an EA for one of the co-founders, KK, is in itself is a big achievement. It has been an adventurous journey of 3.5 years now.
The Culture Change – A personal win
Along with the business, I have seen the culture of Ninjacart evolve, too. I can recall the time when we would still be working in the office till 3:00 AM. We weren’t following a proper routine. It was a rough culture. Everyone had their share of complaints, which resulted in many exiting the organization.
But that is something we have left behind. We have now come way ahead as a people-centric organization. Today, we have a proper timeline. Also, managers are treating their people well, the teams are happy, and the work environment is blissful. This is the company we wanted to build. I’ve witnessed these changes happen closely, and these improvements feel like a personal win for me.
Being an Executive Assistant – Much more than what it looks like
People are often mistaken that an EA’s job is just to maintain calendars. But in reality, it’s much more than that. It’s also about managing the expectations and requests from different stakeholders, and ensuring that things are in place.
A simple day for an EA would be occupied with meetings; working on the prerequisites and post-requisites for the meeting. On the other hand, if I see that the co-founder is laden with tasks, it becomes my responsibility to take away at least 10-20% of the tasks off his shoulder and drive it.
When we didn’t have an HR head, we faced a lot of issues around the policy framework. This resulted in KK taking up double responsibilities. As I had experience around these HR activities before, I was assisting KK with streamlining the policies, approval flows, and people cost management. That’s how things go for an EA.
My inspiration – KK
I have worked with many people who have been great sources of inspiration. But if I had to name one, it would be KK. Being the youngest of all co-founders, he adds different bling to the business. He has many qualities that make him stand out from the crowd.
I have worked with him right from my HR days and the learnings that I have sourced from him are unique. With all the skills that I have today or the kind of work that I have been able to do, KK has been behind it. He has been a catalyst in shaping my career so far. And that is primarily why I have been so influenced by him.
A Shero in and outside Ninjacart
I believe that Ninjacart provides the best space for a woman to work and showcase her expertise in different domains. Ever since I joined here, I never felt there has been any bias in terms of any gender, and you have an open space to work, learn, make mistakes, and evolve.
I admire women who dwell on any problem to find out the best possible solution. The attitude of learning, being open to change, and making your way through everything that drops in, is something that helps one to stand out from the crowd. And that for me defines a true Shero.
Outside work, I love to read and write. I read a lot of books and like scribbling what my heart says. And then, I pick all the pieces and put them out in my blog. Alongside, I am a Bharatanatyam dancer and dance keeps me sane when I am not.
